Fiber Optic Lights

Fiber optic lights are one of the fastest growing types of home lighting. You will start
to notice it more and more at stores, shops, and at home. And because energy costs are going through the roof and
the conservation of energy is becoming more and more important, fiber optics might be the norm very soon. What most
people don’t understand about fiber optic lights is that it really don’t cost much more than traditional
lighting.
In many museums across North America you will find they have switched to fiber optic lights because of the way
it can light up exhibits and save tremendous amounts of money in energy costs. Another benefit is that this type of
lighting produces very little heat compare to the bright halide lights that you could cook dinner on.

If you take a look in the super market, displays for fresh and frozen foods are using fiber optic lighting.
Again, they will provide a lot of light without heating up the products which would otherwise ruin them. They also
won’t fade the colors on boxes and bags. Sunlight if famous for that but so is a lot of the regular store
lighting.
One problem is that fiber optic lights can be expensive. This is going to depend on your
current setup and how difficult this installation will be. But with all things, the prices are coming down quite
fast as the demand increases and they become more widespread. There are so many different ways to use fiber optic
lighting that pretty soon that decisions will go from “do we buy fiber optic lighting” to “what type of style and
design of fiber optic lighting are we going to use.”
Another benefit of fiber optic lights is that they can be used to light hard to get at places. And since you
won’t have to change the bulbs as often, you won’t have to worry about the hassles of doing it. They also provide a
ton of light so you won’t need as many to light up the same area.
The last point I want to make is that they are great to use outdoors or around water without having to worry so
much about fire hazards. As I mentioned they are much cooler which makes it easy to have them close to the
house, in pools, or along the garden.
So we have learned that fiber optic lights can produce a lot of light compared to regular
lighting, they aren’t hot, and pretty much just as expensive as other lighting. You can use them in almost every
application imaginable and soon it will be hard to find the older more dangerous lighting systems.
